3 Germany

Name: German Federation of Friends of Museum of Fine Arts (GFFM)
Who: 92 Member Associations
Founded in 2003
Mission: The German Federation creates a strong nationwide presence for the interests of friends’ associations. The idea consists of getting to know each other, nurturing dialogue, helping one another, and in particular, representing the concerns of these associations.
Twice a year the members of the federation meet up to exchange ideas: These semi-annual meetings are offered separately for the board members, the managing directors, and the Young Friends.

It is a particular priority for the Federation to inspire young people to get involved in museum friends’ associations, which is why 2005 the GFFM established structures to promote the creation of young friends’ initiatives.

Founded in Bucharest in 1998

Mission:
The Friends of the National Museum of Art of Romania is a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting the National Museum of Art of Romania (MNAR), the country’s largest and most significant art repository. Our mission extends beyond financial contributions; we strive to foster a strong and dynamic connection between the museum and the public, ensuring that Romania’s artistic heritage remains accessible, appreciated, and preserved for future generations.

Our members include individuals and organizations from Romania and beyond, all united by a shared commitment to culture and the arts. Through their generosity and engagement, we help the museum enhance its role as a leading cultural institution. We support initiatives that safeguard and promote MNAR’s extensive collection, facilitate educational programs that bring audiences closer to art, and contribute to the realization of thematic exhibitions that highlight both Romanian and international artistic achievements.

Beyond preservation, we believe in making art a vibrant part of contemporary life. By fostering partnerships, organizing cultural events, and encouraging dialogue between artists, scholars, and the public, we help shape a museum experience that is engaging, inclusive, and inspiring. Whether through direct involvement, sponsorship, or advocacy, the Friends of MNAR provide essential support that enables the museum to fulfill its mission. We welcome all those who share our passion for the arts to join us in this endeavor, ensuring that MNAR continues to thrive as a center of artistic excellence.
